After seeing another reader comment on the fang tip scene I went back to read it again and I see that a bit of his yokai had entered her blood stream. At this point I can only assume that will be the cause for Kagome's change and I must apologise, I stand corrected that there didn't seem to be a logical explanation from what you had written so far that her change could be attributed to. Kudos to Klee for spotting that and kudos to you as an author for being able to write what I'm assuming is an important plot device so subtly! Even if the whole fang tips scene turns out to be a red herring I've thoroughly enjoyed trying to piece together the mystery and I'm looking forward to discovering the answer!
Your writing is wonderful... though there have been some spots that made me question reading further. The biggest one being the almost palgerizing of the kill bill seen(I know you footnoted it)... it seemed dishonest, unnecessary and lazy because you are obviously a capable writer. There were also a couple little thing... like InuYasha, he takes after his father in appearance while shesshomaru takes after his mother; there a many images that show that in the anime and magna. Along with the topography of Japan. Southern japan is not desolate in fact it is very temperate and as such would be far more desirable. Also I believe the dragons were said to live in northern japan in the series... or maybe they have just been written that way in so many other stories that I am misinformed. I only my mention these points because this is liated as a canon story not AU.
I also do hope that there is some outside force manipulating kagome, as she seems to be extremely ooc, more so then shesshomaru. I am all for her being a modern woman however I see her character as a much more intelligent being and she, while not being accepting of some beliefs and ideas of the time, wouldn't behave like a bull in a china shop. Her strongest powers have always been in her light, loving and inclusive personality that draw people in to see things from her perspective, she doesn't assert her power over others the way she has been doing to shesshomaru.
I don't mean to sound harsh and I'm glad that you are sharing this story with us, I honestly believe you have great potential to be an amazing writer and I do look forward to seeing where you take this story.
I apologize if this comes across to you as unkind, that is not my intention at all.
dunDunDUN! Who is she and what has she done with our Kagome?! J/k j/k
Lol. How is Sesshomaru suppose to think straight when everything is being turned to sexy times XD
klee (Chapter 29) - Mon 21 Oct 2019
It seems that Kagome had an abrupt personality change right after the night they had sex and sesshomaru put the tips of his fangs in her neck. I'm wondering if that has some other type of unknown influence on her. I am curious to see what's going on with her. on another note, it was funny how sess reinforced not letting his recent kindness and tolerance be mistaken for weakness!
I really want to know what's up with Kagome now. She does have only half a soul now too. In just reaching for answers. I like that Sesshoumaru had to remind them all who he is and he will not be trifled with. Jiro was getting to big for his britches. Thanks for the update.
Bblaze (Chapter 29) - Mon 21 Oct 2019
Omg I need more of this. I want to know what is wrong with her.
Well, I'm definitely interested to see what is happening with Kagome. Still enjoying the story, can't wait for an update.
I'm hoping that Kagome is not behaving this way because she believes it's the kind of mate Sesshomaru needs or that she wouldn't be accepted in the rest of demon society if she doesn't use her future knowledge to show what an asset she can be to the West. I'm hoping that it's an outside force controlling her, although I don't see how that could be from what has been written so far, because if it really was of her own volition I would tell Sesshomaru just to throw the whole woman away. As a reader it would feel like Kagome, whom is supposed to be this empathetic and loving person, is so far behind in understanding and displaying the maturity and care necessary in a relationship (especially compared to someone who has never had deep feelings!) that she couldn't grow into it in enough time before Sesshomaru would be repulsed by her version of love.
Honestly at this point it feels like Kagome is just further tainting Sesshomaru's idea of what love is that I'm not sure how he will be able to reconcile that. I generally don't dislike Kagome to the extent where I'm rooting for Sesshomaru to move beyond her, you definitely can write complex characters who invoke strong emotions in readers! I'm curious to see what may be going on with Kagome.
Thank you for getting this new chapter up right away and not forcing us to linger on the bad taste from the last one, it's good to see Sesshomaru have limits and get upset with her in response!
I'm super eager to see what is going on Like you said we are forgiving to sesshomaru when he's a jewel but it's because we have given him a reason (past upbringing, etc). If there is a reason behind kagome acting this way , it will feel better. ;) keep up the good work!
Mecca (Chapter 27) - Mon 21 Oct 2019
I can totally tell it was hard for you to write that cringe-worthy change in Kagome! I smell something afoot as you pointed out several times that Sesshoumaru noticed these weird personality changes all of a sudden. Curious as to who is controlling Kagome - and she is because I wouldn’t be able to accept otherwise lol - I hope Sesshoumaru can weather her at her worst! Cuz that is love! Unless this is Kagome’s new personality, I’d tell Sesshoumaru to run for the hills because he deserves better than that ;) Did that threesome poison Kags/their relationship? I’m dying to know! Thank you for updating so promptly!
klee (Chapter 27) - Sun 20 Oct 2019
My concern is that Sesshomaru is so new to his expression of feelings and to find that Kagome is willing to exploit that may make his question the sincerity of her love confession or even the concept of "love" itself. I think she is playing a dangerous game.
I have to agree with another reader. In most other stories we see Sesshomaru get a redemption arc and some good character development which allows for the reader to forgive him, though not always depending on how egregious his behaviour is and how simpering Kagome is written in turn. With Kagome in this story it seems to be going the totally opposite way, I truly liked the Kagime you started with and could even understand where her behaviour with Kouga stemmed from in regards to her fear of not reading too much into her relationship with Sesshomaru! But from the Touran scene to this new chapter it is highly uncomfortable as a reader to see Kagome behave in such a horrid way, especially for seemingly no reason. Sure one could argue that the Touran scene was a sacrifice for altruistic reasons but the fact that she disregarded everything Sesshomaru said about not wanting to be involved or coerced him into certain acts undermined any good that was intended. I'm also a bit lost, she seemed to have done a 180 in her behaviour after her discussion with her mom and pursued Sesshomaru seriously only to once again flip and treat him with no real consideration or care..just for power? It seems contradictory to her established character.
I just don't know if I can stomach this Kagome, but regardless I hope you continue to write the story you set out to and I wish you all the best luck with it.
Nilee1 (Chapter 27) - Sun 20 Oct 2019
I think that the "we" makes me as uncomfortable as it makes Sesshomaru. She really needs to stay in her lane. It's a lot immature of her to think that she understands the workings of centuries-old societies and a centuries-old demon lord. Love should not be used as leverage. She needs to work way harder at building a relationship. She is foolish and childish in her assumptions.
I think the main diffrence in most stories is that sesshoumaru is first a dick and then he changes for the better. In this portrayal kagome seemed genuine and caring, with honest emotions about him and vice versa, and now shes turning into; for lac of a better word, a straight bitch for no reason. She is acting like her experiences with inuyasha and koga have taught her nothing. And her regard for sesshoumaru is superficial at best.
As much as I like this story, this really unprovoked change for the worse is a bit of a turn off.
I might have felt diffrent if in the beginning she didnt show such clarity for her actions and her apparent love of him as previously stated. But the insidious twist out of the blue? Meh.
Best regards TiO
