To celebrate Valentine’s day next year, we’re hosting the first Big Bang for SessKag creators over at the SessKag blog on Tumblr!



HOW IT WORKS:

There will be separate sign ups for artists and writers. During the sign up, artists can pick a prompt.

After the sign ups, the artists and writers are paired up

Based on the chosen prompt, the pair will create fan art and a fic

IMPORTANT DATES:

Artist sign ups: 16th–29th December 2019

Writer sign ups: 30th December 2019 – 8th January 2020

Pairs are announced: Friday 10th January 2020

FINISHED FANWORKS ARE POSTED: MONDAY 10TH – SUNDAY 16TH FEBRUARY 2020

WHAT IS A BIG BANG:

Big Bangs are a type of fandom challenges in which fic writers collaborate with fan artists.

Typically their format has been such that writers will work on a long fic and then artists will create fan art based on the fic.

However, our big bang is held a little differently and with more flexibility: We’re letting each writer & artist pair figure out how they’d prefer to collaborate.



HOW THIS EVENT WORKS:

Sign ups will be done via Google Forms and the links will be released once the sign ups start

Artist sign ups are held first. The artist sign up form will include a list of prompts the artist can choose from

The prompts are mostly single word prompts so they can be interpreted very loosely. They’re all related to the Big Bang’s theme: Romance

The Writer sign ups will be held after the Artist sign ups

To ensure that we can pair everyone up evenly, there will only be as many writer slots available as there have been artists who’ve signed up for the Big Bang. Therefore it’s first come first served!

After sign ups are closed, we will randomly pair up all the attendees to form artist & writer pairs. We’ll announce the pairs & their prompts on Friday 10th January 2020

The pair will produce fanworks, 1 fic & 1 fan art, based on the prompt the artist has chosen. The fic should be at least 1,000 words long!

Depending on what the pair prefers, they may work together or separately. As they have a full month to work on their creations before they are posted, they can also work out a schedule between the two of them, e.g. one of them finishing their fanwork first and the other using the first fanwork as an inspiration to create their own. Whatever works best for each pair!

Finished fanworks will be posted the week of Valentine’s day, Monday 10th -- Sunday 16th February 2020. We’ll give out more information about the posting of the fanworks when the pairs are announced.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

- Jaf will be contacting each participant privately with the contact information of their pair.

- Each pair can decide how they want to collaborate; what best works out for each of you!

- You may interpret the prompts as freely as you wish, though remember the event’s theme is romance

- Writers, please remember your fics should be at least 1,000 words

- We’ll be doing check-ins with every pair on 20th January & 3rd February! These will not be anything formal, and you won’t have to show us your progress, we just want to know if everything’s coming along smoothly!

- Your completed works will be posted Tue 11th February - Sun 16th February! Each pair will be allotted a day to post on, but those will be decided later depending on everyone’s progress. More information on the posting will also follow later, after the final check-in on February 3rd!

- You’re free to post your contribution to the Big Bang any time between Tue 11th February and Sun 16th February!
We mentioned before we’d allot a time for every pair to post but in the end it might be easier to just let all of you post according to your own schedules!

- If possible, please link to your partner’s work when you post your own! If that is not possible, please at least mention the prompt you’re working with and your partner’s name in an author’s note or image description!

- If you’re posting on Tumblr, please mention the blog (@sesskag) so we can see and reblog your contribution! You can also use the hashtag sesskag valentine’s big bang
