Chapter One

At the well.

Kagome stood staring down the well this was her last time she would go back to her era and she had been dreading this day for a very long time and finaly it was here. Inu yasha and Sesshomaru were standing behind her. They had tried all they could to prevent this day from coming and had failed. They couldn't keep her here against her will and neither of them had the heart to do it. So it was time to say goodbye.

"Kagome we are going to miss you ya know." Inu yasha spoke walking closer to kagome and hugging her. "I know but I can't stay as much as I want to. I don't belong here and you both know that. I have to go back to my era and if I stayed there is no telling what me staying here could do to the time in the future. So you see I have to go." Kagome turned hugging Inu yasha and kissing him on the lips for the last time.

Sesshomaru had been quite as his bother kissed kagome.

*She had always loved him no matter what he did and she stood by his side through everything. She deserved his love.*

Kagome broke the kiss and looked toward Sesshomaru and tears began to fall down her lovely cheeks. She pulled away from Inu yasha and walked over to Sesshomaru and looked into his golden orbs that srceamed for her not to go. He had never gotten completely used to showing his emotions to her so she had to take the time to read them in his eyes.

Sesshomaru pulled her into desprate kiss not wanting to let her go, but knowing that he could not keep her. She was the first love he had ever had and her leaving was harder on him than he cared to let on. Kagome held him close to her. She knew this would be hard for every one, but Sesshomaru who had only begun to realiaze what love was truly about was trying his best to keep his emotions in check.

Finaly he let her go as she walked back to the well and stepped onto the mouth and looked back one more time and then fell into the darkness of the well. As she fell slowly back to her world she reacalled all of the recent memories of her time with Inu yasha and Sesshomaru.

Kagome was surprised that Miroku had finaly asked Sango to marry him and the wedding was beautiful. The battle was over and the happy couple were off on there honeymoon. Sesshomaru had helped in the battle and actually stayed long enough to join in on the wedding festiviest. Of course that pissed Inu yasha off to know end. However, while Sesshomaru was there Kagome actually had several conversations with him and had gotten to know him pretty well. He wasn't as cold and blckhearted as he let on.

After the honeymooners were off Sesshomaru had invited her to his castle. Not wanting to be rude she said yes to the offer but only if Inu yasha could come. This was somewhat of a problem at first, but she explained that she did not want to leave Inu yasha alone ever since Naraku had killed Kikiyou. So, Sesshomaru said yes and they began their trip to his castle.

It was a sight to behold not to mention lovely in every way. Inu yasha, however, kept to himself most of the time not wanting to responed or talk to anyone. So he mostly stayed away from Sesshomaru and Kagome and remained in his room.

'I'm worried about Inu yasha he seems depressed. I wish there was something I could do to make him feel better. He's been whimpering all the time in his room and that is just not like Inu yasha." Kagome expressed at the dinner table. "Now he won't even eat at the dinner table with us." *Did the death of Kikiyou do this to him?* "Your right. I will speak with him tonight before I retire. It may be the caslte has brought back some very unhappy memories as well." Sesshomaru sipped his sake.

They had finished dinner and decided to take a walk out in the gardens. They talked about many things, but mostly what to do about Inu yasha's mood. Kagome had felt a bit of a crush form for Sesshomaru after all he was gorgeous and not to metion a lord. They had found that they had many things in common and told funny stories about Inu yasha to each other. Everyday they had been growing closer and closer and Sesshomaru had gotten to the point to wondering if he was falling in love with Kagome.

They had stopped under a gaint oak tree and were now gazing at the stars. "Kagome, What do you think of me?" Sesshomaru asked not taking away his attention from the sky. Kagome stared at him in some what of a shock. "What do you mean what do I think of you?" She suttered. "I want to know how you feel about me." He said still looking at the stars. "How I feel? Why?" She look back at the sky. "Because I believe that I have feelings of love for you Kagome. And I need to know if I should pursue them or ignore them and I assumed you were best person to talk to about such things."

Kagome stared back at Sesshomaru who had finaly looked her way. "You have...feelings of love...for me?" She stammered out. "Yes Kagome and I need you to tell me what I should do with them." Sesshomaru had closed the space between them and was gazing deeply into her ocean blue eyes. "I can't really tell you what to do with your feelings Sesshomaru. As how I feel for you. I have grown to like you more than I should considering that you are Inu yasha's brother." She could only stare back at him.

"Then perhaps I should act on those feelings." Sesshomaru pulled her into his arms and tilted her chin up and placed a gentle kiss on her lips. Afraid that if he did more he would scare out of his arms. Kagome could only open her lips as he licked them wanting to kiss her fully. Sesshomaru knew that he was still in his room for he had not come out for anyone since last night. Sesshomaru looked up toward the celing. "Yes, I know what true love is. Kagome is my true love and I am her true love." Inu yasha barked.

"No, Inu yasha. True love is not simply because you love someone even if they are someone truly love." Sesshomaru sighed. "True love is when you will give up anything for that person to be happy. It is when you will galdly give up your life for that person so that they may live. It is when you will let go of that person even though they are your true love. You may not be their true love, giving them the freedom to love who the desire without your interference. That Inu yasha is true love."

Sesshomaru looked at his brother. "You are Kagome's true love because she has done all these things for you." He looked back at the water. "Can you honestly say Inu yasha that you have done these things for Kagome?'

Inu yasha just stared at his brother. "You said a mouthful." He looked away. "No, I have not done any of those things for Kagome." Inu yasha hung his head. "And yet Inu yasha after all of the wrong that you have done to her she still loves you. Think about that little brother and when you are ready to talk to Kagome come to me first. I would like to hear your thoughts." Sesshomaru slid back out of the spring dried himself, dressed, and left Inu yasha to his thoughts.

Most of the day had gone by and still no sign of Inu yasha. Kagome had spent the day with the children playing in the palace gardens and ever so often Sesshomaru would step onto the balcony of his study and watch them. She was so good with the children. Sesshomaru asked. Inu yasha nodded and stared at the floor. He felt ashamed of himself for acting like a complete child and he wated to make it up to Kagome. And from what his brother was saying earlier in the spring this was the only way.

"Have a seat we will talk and then you will tell me your thoughts." Sesshomaru sat waving at the chair in front of his desk.

Kagome had the children go back in side the palace to get cleaned up for dinner. She decided to go see Sesshomaru who she knew was still iin his office. She walked toward the door and stopped just before knocking when she heard Inu yasha's voice on the other side.

Kagome stood there and listened to the entire conversation as Inu yasha admitted to loving her and hurting her. He was sorry for the way things had turned out and wanted to repair what had been broken if he still could. He knew that Sesshomaru now held a peice of her heart and would not fight for her because in true he had no longer had the right after what he had put her through. Inu yasha stated that since it was late that Koga should stay for the night and they would all talk this over with Kagome in the morning. They all agreed of course. There were going to be four lovers and this had to be taken care of slowly and of course the sharing of one bed would have to be excluded unless it was something Kagome desired.

They talked as they walked through the hallways of the castle. Koga now shown to his room bid the two Inus good night as they walked to their own rooms. Kagome found out that she could not sleep and in her mind she could just see that this was going to work and that the love she felt even for Koga would be very difficult to maintain. No matter what they did. *This can't last much longer beside I still have to go home.*

In the well in the future...

Kagome had finaly landed as tears started falling down her cheeks Koga hadn't even come to see her off. She remembered what she had told him the morning that he had finaly asked her to be his mate and explained the arrangements that he and the others had come up with.

She had told him no and explained why. He was very upset and quite unhappy with her decision. After a while Sesshomaru and Inu yasha walked up and she explained to all of them that she was leaving to go home tomorrow afternoon and that she was not going to change her mind.

They had tried to convince her to stay but she refused. "I don't belong here. I have already stayed longer than I should have. After the jewel was complete I was supposed to go home then. I told you this already and I thought that you had accepted it. I'm sorry I must go I will not bring anyone else especaily Koga into somthing that should have never started in the first place."

"I have been selfish which is something that shocks even myself. I knew what would happen if I stayed. So I need all of you to forget me and go back to the lives you once had without me in them. I only wish that I had listen to my head instead of my heart this one time. And I wish I could undo all the damage I have done to all of you but I can't. I can only hope that as the three of you live that time will eventualy erase my memory from your hearts and minds."

And with that Kagome went to her room and began to pack her things leaving the three youkai to ponder what she had said. Sesshomaru knew Kagome was right she did not belong here, but stil did not want to lose the only thing he had ever truly loved.

Inu yasha was angry that she would lead them all on into thinking that she would stay. He couldn't stay mad long for he to was losing the second love if his life.

Koga simply left the two Inus in a cloud of dust as he ran. He was not about to give up even if he had to wait six thousand years he would have Kagome. His persistance had paid off so far. He found out that she really did have feelings for him and that made is heart all the more determined to have her. "I will not give up! I will have her with or without those dogs around. I will never let her go and not even hell, heaven, or time will keep me from her."

The night went by without even so much as a single word spoken between the three lovers. Kogame refused to come out of her room until time to make the journey to the well. She really hated saying goodbye and she would not do it.

At the well...

She had hugged and kissed Sesshomaru and Inu yasha passionatly then left them alone as she fell into the well to her time.

Koga had not even bothered to show up to recieve her love.

Back in the future...

Kagome climbed out of the well and opened the doors to the shed only to see Sesshomaru leaning againts the God tree smiling dress in a navy blue business suit, with his hair in a hight ponytail. Inu yasha standing not to far from him dressed in leather pants, biker boots, red t-shirt, and a leather jacket that said 'I'm taken' on the front. Koga was standing on the opposite side of Sesshomaru with his arms crossed, dressed in torn jeans, a white t-shirt, tennis shoes, with his hair cut short.

Kagome couldn't believe her eyes this was almost to good to be true. They had waited 500 years for her and the thought of it made her sobb in happiness. She would not have to forget her love and she knew now that she would never be alone again, ever. She embraced each of them as she escorted them into her home to introduce them to her mother. This was the best day of her life. She had everything she could ever want and that was the love of the men she thought she had left behind.
