The fic I am looking for was from FF.net (pretty positive) and was updated sometime last year. The author was a student and was having a difficult time updating because of school.

The story goes like this: there was a fight (not sure if it was a battle) and Kagome gets caught in the crossfire and gets a gnarly scratch on her shoulder (?) from Sesshomaru. The scratch doesn't heal and I believe she is changing.

Eventually, Sesshomaru takes her to see his mother and there he meets his grandfather who is a great magician (or something like that). He is able to tell that Kagome is changing to a demon, but too fast for her body to keep up. Her bones are breaking and hardening too fast.

I don't know if this is one that has been taken down due to the author not being happy with it - that seems to be happening a lot.

Any help would be appreciated!

Possibly "Matters of Instinct" by Sable Miyako? I couldn't tell you for sure as the story has been taken down (*admin edit).

If someone remembers the story well, perhaps they can confirm.

Sorry to hear that was the correct fic... Was hoping I was wrong. I wasn't sure as she took the story down a while back while I was reading it and I never got too far into the plot before it poofed!
