The Bond of Souls by Prayer
The Start of a Love Story
Kagome took a deep breath, checking her disguise. Yes, nothing indicated she was not a human like she seemed to be. Her youki was under control, hidden. Turning around, she checked her three friends, who were more like sisters. Kikyo nodded but seemed quite nervous, Sango too and Ayame shook her red waves and then smiled shakily. All four knew that this was their only chance. They had been lucky enough that Touga, the Inu no Taisho, was this generous.
Kagome took one more deep breath and led the four of them into the hotel and towards the ballroom.
“Names?” a servant asked. But before Kagome could answer, Touga Taisho stood in front of them and the servant bowed deeply.
“They are with me.” his deep voice commented and he led the girls into the ballroom, to the biggest social event this spring.
They looked around, no awe visible. Touga smiled. They had been around for a very long time and probably witnessed even greater events – even with Royalty. Though disguised as humans. Harsh times. He suppressed a sigh and his powers spiked, calling for his sons and their friends. Time for introductions.
.
Sesshomaru almost sighed as he felt the call. Inuyasha grumbled something like “what does the old man want now?”
And he couldn't help but agree. Their father was quite demanding and it was like he was getting ridiculous with his old age. Even more ridiculous than before.
He and Inuyasha dragged themselves and their two best friends, the long-living monk Miroku and the wolf demon Kouga towards their father. But as they were met with the sight of the four females standing with his father they were stunned.
The four females were human, but didn't seem like that. Grace, poised perfection lay underneath the humanity, but as the three canines sniffed, they were assured of their humanity. Though the scents were quite divine as well. Clear and pure, natural, each of the four ones. But the humanity, the scent of impending death was there as well and Sesshomaru's nose creased. Humans didn't look like this. Humans never possessed the grace those four had, not the perfection lingering, tinting the air around them. Never.
And everyone looked at them. Males looked at them with interest, with lust and admiration. To Sesshomaru's surprise even the females only held positive interest and admiration. No envy, no dislike was in the air. Who were those four?
Inuyasha looked at the four women. How did his father knew those four? Who were they? Why were they here?
Kouga was torn between the red-head with blazing green eyes and the one with those wonderful blue ones and raven hair. Both seemed lively and not as introverted and shy as the other two.
Miroku was in heaven, so many lovely bodies.
Touga smiled – almost smirked. The four females really looked extraordinary. Then his smile diminished. One of their last acts...
The dog General forced the smile back on his face and waved the four younger males closer.
“Miroku, Kouga, and my two sons.” he grinned, back to a good mood, seeing them so dumb-struck was amusing at least.
“Let me introduce you to these lovely ladies.” he began and gestured to each in turn. “Sango-san, Ayame-san, Kikyo-san and the oldest Kagome-san.”
The women bowed their heads in reference to the males and softly, harmoniously chorused “Nice to meet you.”
Eyes widened at the soft and pure voices. Sesshomaru was startled as Kagome raised her head and immediately looked into his eyes. There was a pull, a strong pull towards her.
To Touga it seemed like the females had found each their counterpart and he could see it fit like fated, like their souls bonded immediately.
Kouga and Ayame had locked eyes and the wolf was entranced by the power and the self-confidence in those green depths. Inuyasha was looking at the shyer Kikyo, amazed by the gentleness in those gray-brown eyes. And Miroku, Miroku for the first time had no problems keeping his gaze on the female's face and not her body.
And Touga grinned even wider as he noticed the exchange between his eldest and the eldest of the females.
…
“When?” Kagome asked softly as they finally left the event later that night, after having a great time with the guys and having been given contact information. They hadn't given theirs. Touga stood in front of her, the taxi behind her with the other three females already inside it.
The guys were inside, having not said goodbye. They were probably searching for the ladies, so Touga wanted them to hurry. To him it was similar to Cinderella and her story, how she had to leave the ball in a hurry too.
Touga looked into her eyes, the blue depths serious and calm. She and the others had accepted their fates.
“Next week.” he said, a sad smile beginning to show. “I can't prolong telling the council of you four much longer.”
Kagome smiled, and her eyes sparkled slightly. “You have given us a chance. We are thankful for all you did and will still do.”
Then to his surprise she bowed her head. “Our lives are in your hands, I am sure you know.”
She straightened as she felt four auras quickly coming towards them from inside the hotel.
“Until next time, Touga-san.”
Quickly she climbed in and the moment the car door was closed, they were around the next corner.
His sons and two friends were next to Touga a few seconds later.
“Where are they, dad?” Inuyasha asked.
“Gone.” Touga said, in a matter-of-fact-tone.
