The night they had decided to be together was one Kagome would always remember for the rest of her life.
Kagome was so tired of being alone, InuYasha had Kikyo, Sango had Miroku, and Shippo was always gone, so that left her alone a lot. But she wasn’t upset at InuYasha, she understood, she no longer felt the love she had for him all those years ago…now she loved another.
But he’d left her too, he’d left after she’d confessed to him, telling him how much she loved him… and he’d just turned and walked away without a word.
That had been a year ago, and now she was hearing whispers that the Lord of the West was finally going to take a mate.
It hurt her to hear such things, mostly because she’d thought they’d gotten so close while he’d been an ally of theirs…she remembered one instance in particular.

“I do not know what you mean.” Sesshoumaru’s deadpan look was centered on Kagome as he tried to process her rationale.
“Yes you do, I mean, really Sesshoumaru, you act just like every other kid I’ve met whose parents remarried. They hated the sibling that tore their parents apart too, until they got older and realized it wasn’t the baby’s fault, it was the parents fault…you can’t keep blaming InuYasha for your father’s mistake.” Kagome touched his arm gently as she looked at him.
After that they had spent the whole night talking about Sesshoumaru’s father, and Kagome smiled at the admiration that she could hear in his voice. “You really loved him.”
“……hnn.” Was his only reply, and after that they sat in companiable silence.

Now she sat in the hut that she had had made for her when the well had closed after her wish had been granted…she still wondered if her mother worried about her.
Her head shot up as she heard something in the bushes behind her, and her eyes filled with tears when she saw Sesshoumaru come from the bushes. “Sesshoumaru…?”
“….” He was silent as he moved forward and pulled the little miko to his chest, kissing her infront of the whole village an she looked up at him, feeling that same feeling, the same feeling of being close. “Sesshoumaru….”
“You will be mine.” And she spent the next years as his mate, her years filled with his love for her.
