The introduction to a long life

A/n: I should get this over with so I can let you enjoy this. I do not own any of the Inu yasha characters, only thing I can think of owning right now is this Computer and Sakura Hisakawa and her father.. I do not profit from this fic whatsoever.

It was an overcast day… a very chilly gloomy overcast day. Kagome looked outside of the window of her home pondering her next plan action… Who would go out shopping in this weather? She certainly would not! She brushed her midnight colored hair from her face in a flawless movement of grace. She had long ago grown out of the school girl that everyone remembered, she was the same but more mature. Her body had finally grown the curves that she had longed for when she was younger, and her hair had grown to her waist, in a dark waterfall. She wished that her friends could have seen it. It had been several hundreds of years since the well had decided to close, and it had been even more peaceful years since the defeat of Naraku. Her sapphire blue eyes became unfocused and unseeing until she hit a particular scene that made her heart ache.

                                                -Flash back-

The sun was close to setting and it was the night of a new moon. The mood was as cold as the wind while Kagome, Kikyo, and Inuyasha took in the sight of the damage…Bodies of dead villagers littered the area; the foul stench of death permeated the air. ‘How could one being be so heartless to create a scene like this?’ Kagome thought quietly. Some of the huts were destroyed, some parts of the village was in flames. Screams could be heard all around and crying of children calling for parents made it unbearable to watch.

Amongst all of the chaos, Naraku approached, stopping only 100 yards away, “Do you now see what power I possess? You are no threat to me. Killing Kagura only helped me. Betrayal can only be ended by death.” Small curses seemed to be spilling from the mouth of the hanyou as he charged forward attacking with the Wind Scar, “YOU BASTARD!” Naraku chucked as his tentacles absorbed the attack. “I possess the power of the Shikon Jewel fool. Do you really think that you can defeat me?” Kikyo smiled coolly, “That does not mean that you cannot die.” Kagome looked over to Kikyo in awe, she noted the calm cool anger of the miko and she grew a little jealous, why couldn’t she be calm like that? She was only good for shooting arrows and her reiki did not always rise to the occasion, even as she willed it to obey her by protecting the two lovers. They really were a case of real life Romeo and Juliet. She had decided that in this tragedy, she would be fair Paris as Inuyasha would be Juliet. To be in love with someone who did not even notice.

                                                                -End-

Kagome sighed sadly; his defeat was really a sacrifice. Kikyo and Inuyasha reconciled during the week that she spent home. It was a little shocking at first, then a little of the jealousy monster had appeared... Smirking, she remembered the fights that she picked during that time, even if it was just to get a bit of the male’s attention. When the final battle came about, she knew why the inu stopped showing her affections, he had made the decision that he would go to hell with Kikyo; and they would take Naraku with them. “I now wonder why the sun is not smiling today." the feminine voice said sarcastically. The front door shut noisily and she could hear the rustling of her longtime friend around the house. Did she really have to be that noisy? Yeah demons still exist an all but…“Miko, you will grow sick with grief.” Kagome looked at the owner of the voice softly. “Sakura. Today is the anniversary of Naraku’s death. Don’t you remember?” The voice sighed, “Yes. One would always remember that day…”

                                -Flashback-

Sango had appeared by her side panting harshly, grabbing at the hesitant girl “Come on Kagome, we’ve all discussed this. Kikyo and Inuyasha are going to handle him... come on! We’ve got to find Miroku and the surviving villagers!” Kagome looked back at the three fighting. “You’re right. Let’s go!” With that, they darted off into the dark forest. They could still hear the desperate cries for help from the remaining villagers. “They’re being attacked!” Kagome cried as she willed her feet to go faster to keep up with the Slayer. “I see Miroku!” Sango yelled, as she held up her bone boomerang ready for the offense. “WIND TUNNEL!” They arrived in small clearing shocked as an ogre thrashed about sending scurrying villagers flying about. Throwing her weapon, Sango charged, “Kilala!” She called and her companion sprang into action attacking the monster head on. Kagome notched an arrow to her bow and released watching as her reiki attempted to spark to life with the wind. Before it could make the contact, a bird demon blew it away with a gust of wind from its wings. “Sango! I need you to take out that bird!” the slayer nodded and switched her tactics as Miroku attempted to bind the ogre with sutras. “Kagome! Look out!” Miroku yelled as he pushed her out of the way, he made contact with a tree several feet away and coughed up a little blood. He wiped it from his mouth, “Are you okay Kagome?” he asked weakly. She nodded. “Hey! I finished pest control Kagome! Why don’t you and Miroku finish off the rest?” Sango yelled. Her face was cut up slightly but nothing serious.

                                                -End Flashback-

After the battle, Sango and Miroku had decided that life was too short. They married the following month and before Sango had gotten pregnant with their first child, they had decided that they wanted to see the world. They died of old age while she would remain young and timeless. their child before he could start a life for himself, he was stricken with a sickness… he never stood a chance. Shippou had found some relatives in what would be modern day Sapporo a couple of months before the battle, who so happened to be the Lord of the North. In turn for keeping his brother’s only child safe, Kyoumaru Hisakawa sent Sakura, his youngest daughter, to be an effective replacement. The girl however did not arrive until last minute, just as the ogre was about to give the finishing blow.

-Flashback-

“Shit!” Sango cursed as she cradled her broken arm. Her prized bone weapon laid in two pieces on the forest floor by the ogre’s feet. Miroku clutched his side and Kagome suspected that he might have broken ribs. “Kagome get out of here.” Miroku grunted. “No. I’m staying!” Sango chuckled, “Inuyasha would never forgive us if we allowed you to get hurt. Leave before it attacks!” Kagome hesitated as the monster made its move. It snatched up a nearby tree and made move to swing but it paused frozen. Kagome gasped, “What’s going on?” The ogre roared in pain. “How unintelligent. You let your guard down.” A light feminine voice mused. The ogre attacked an area roaring in rage, in turn; his left arm was cut off by an unseen attack from the elbow up. “Miko, you may now choose the time to attack. It would be rather helpful.” The voice advised. Hesitating again, Kagome peered into the forest looking for the owner to the voice, the voice roared, “Attack it now!” The Arrow fired sparked with the brilliant light of her reiki as it shot through the heart of the beast and it fell.

Miroku stood up weakly clutching staff prepared to defend. “Show yourself!” “Calm yourself monk, I mean you no harm.” the female was a kitsune demon, only taller than Kagome by a little. Her hair was the color of a shining magenta and her eyes a silver tinted lavender. She was of a sleek build, her body slightly curvy in Kagome’s time she would have been a catch… but weren’t all upper class demons in this time?  She wore a kimono with the soft greys bringing more of the silver out of her eyes. In short, it made her a look a little unpredictable, dangerous, and beautiful. “Who are you?” Kagome asked. “I am Lord Kyoumaru Hisakawa’s youngest daughter, Sakura Hisakawa.” She bowed in a graceful flourish.” Kagome was shocked; the northern lord did keep his word. “I am to understand that I am to aid you. I apologize for my lateness, but my father’s word did not reach me until last week.” She sniffed the air. “I smell decay.” Kagome nodded, “I am sure that you know about Naraku.” “I have heard whispers amongst the refugees that have come to my land.” “He’s got to be stopped.” Sakura nodded, “Then let us go help your comrades. One of them, a half breed is injured.” “Inuyasha!” Kagome dashed off in the direction of the village with Sakura, Sango, and Miroku in tow.

“I dread the next century with you.” She said with annoyance. Kagome smiled, “You know, you could always go find Shippou, I hear that he is planning on going overseas for a while. The girl paled. “Girl. I hope in all sincerity that you are joking, I do not plan on going off with that hellion that you’ve influenced.” “Aw come on! He’s still young!” Sakura snorted, “He’s OLD enough to protect and watch himself. What sane being would leave these verdant shores?” Kagome laughed. “You didn’t say that when the industrial ages attacked these verdant shores.” Sakura crossed her arms, “I knew I should have killed that inventor…” “For someone who loved her verdant shores she sure didn’t have a problem leaving them and dragging me with her when it got a little too violent.” “I do hope you plan on cooking today.” The kitsune fanned herself as she strolled out of the room as if trying to change the subject. “Coward!” She smiled drifting back to that day.

Inuyasha was hit; he knew it would not be long before Naraku would use this against him. Kikyo was barely holding her own, after she had ran out of arrows, it was not much else to do but to purify what all came too close to her slightly battered body. “Inuyasha!” Kikyo called out. He dodged another tentacle, “WHAT?” She grunted as a tentacle grabbed her arm, “Attack that tree to the left of you!” He tilted his head to the side and did as he was told. The tentacles stopped and withered before their eyes. A dark chuckle resounded throughout the village. Before Inuyasha could act, a wall of ice blocked the attack coming from nowhere.

“Inuyasha!” The hanyou looked to his dear friend and frowned when he saw whom she had with her. “Another one of you...?” “You should focus on the decay, if you want this to end how you’ve planned with your mate that is.” Inuyasha glared at her and noted that Kagome’s mood had shifted. “We’ve got to end this right now.” She looked around, “I don’t want any more lives to be taken.” Sakura nodded. “It is settled… The slayer, monk, Kagome, and I shall fight off the extras. You and the other miko shall deal with the main problem.” They all nodded in agreement. Kagome turned to run off across the village with Sakura’s words in her mind, ‘He will attack you because you in his eyes are the weakest of all. He goes for the easy targets first remember that. If you go down first he will then head for the monk and then slayer then I. He will be too focused on you to remember that there are still five more to deal with. Once you are clear, the half breed and undead miko will do as planned.’ Kagome agreed cautious not to make herself inaccessible.  ‘We’re ready for you Naraku!’
