Windows to the Soul

For the umpteenth time, he found himself regarding the foolhardy, outspoken, rash young female that traveled with his half-brother. Why? If he were honest with himself, he would have to admit to being completely enthralled with her apparent openness and honesty. Her emotions were there for all to see, so clearly displayed in her shining blue eyes.

No, there was no guile there, he was sure of it. Practically every thought that flitted so swiftly through that ebony-crowned head was there for the reading. Innocence, naivetè, purity and goodness radiated off this slip of a human.

It was, therefore, a huge shock to the demon lord when said 'slip of a human' enticed him away from their combined group, supposedly needing to seek his guidance on an important matter. When she felt they were far enough away, she turned toward him, blushing a spectacular shade of vermilion.

"Did you know, Lord Sesshoumaru, that some mikos have visionary dreams?" she asked, biting her lower lip and staring at the ground.

"Hn." Yes, he was aware of this, and more; not that he would admit such openly.

"Well," she continued, "I've been having the most interesting dreams... about a demon lord and a miko..."

She raised her eyes to meet his, and what he saw there left him stunned. Knowledge, of... him?

His innermost wants and desires, reflected in those eyes.

It was then he realized that he was not the only master of illusion in their midst, not by a long shot.
