A/N: Written for Priestess Skye’s Seven Deadly Sins Challenge (Dokuga)
Unadulterated Indolence
Kagome lazed on the silk-covered bed, the soft material rubbing luxuriously against her skin, almost erotic in its texture. Since she had become Lady of the West, her days were filled with nothing to do but relax in the splendid comfort of the palace. The miko slept in as she pleased, and most days did not rise until noon or later. She would stay in the comforting solace of the bedroom and let a servant bring her breakfast to her room.
After a leisurely meal, Kagome would get out of the bed and spend an hour or more soaking in the lavish warmth of her own personal hot spring. She allowed a servant to wash her long raven-hued tresses while she calmly soaked in the heated water. Loving the feel of another’s hands in her hair, she found this routine most pleasing. Once Kagome was finally ready to relinquish the hot water, yet another servant would wrap her in a towel and wrap her hair with another.
Another hour would be wasted as Kagome dressed in one of her many stunning silk kimonos, and a lady-in-waiting would do her hair. Sometimes she would sit in the chair much longer than an hour, depending on how elaborately her hair was styled. She loved the feel of the comb brushing through her long, wavy hair and insisted that the servant use at least one hundred strokes before even styling her locks.
Kagome would then go into Sesshomaru's library to find herself something to read in order to pass the afternoon hours. Occasionally she would sit in the gardens as she read, but most often, she would curl up in her bed and while away the time. The miko had a fondness for the comfortable bed with its silken covers and many pillows.
She would lay there until a servant came to fetch her for dinner. Kagome would enter the dining room with the poise and elegance demanded by her station to take her seat to the right of her mate and Lord husband. Dinner was always quiet, merely a time to eat but not converse as she sat in the comfortably appointed room with Sesshomaru.
After dinner, Sesshomaru would once again busy himself with the affairs of his land, and Kagome would spend some more time with her reading. The evening always passed slowly for her, but she was not one to complain with this comfortable life as Lady of the land. At times, she would spend the evening painting or drawing; though, her current favorite pastime was to write. She had dozens of scrolls filled with stories of love, magic, and her adventurous life before Naraku was defeated. Sometimes, she would even try her hand at the odd assortment of instruments that her Lord kept, though never with much success.
The human miko enjoyed the quiet life after her absurdly long, arduous journey with Inuyasha and the gang to defeat Naraku and take back the Shikon jewel. She was quite content to spend her days allowing others to do for her. This life was a sharp contrast to any that she had ever known, but pleasantly so.
Once in a while, she would entertain fantasies of once again seeking adventure and danger, but this would always pass quickly. This life had spoiled her terribly, and she was unsure if that was such a terrible thing after all. Kagome had all she could ever want or need at her disposal.
Once night had fallen and all was serene, her Lord would come to her. Together, they would stretch out in the huge bed and talk or simply enjoy each other’s company for a while. Eventually, they would spend themselves in a passionate flurry, delighting in the sensuous touches and stares.
As the night began to wane, Kagome and Sesshomaru would lie in each other’s arms and answer sleep's beckoning call. Sometimes, Kagome would watch him sleeping beside her with his hair spread over the pillows and his face relaxed in sleep. He let his guard down only here with her, while his mind drifted in sleep's numbing fog.
Smiling at her mate, Kagome decided that this life of indolence and leisure was indeed for her. After all, she had everything in the world at her fingertips.
