Under The Willow Tree by Dandie

Fluffy

A beautiful pure white german shepard lay at Kagome's feet, her hand lay idle on top of its head, randomly scratching one of it's ears. Her attention was focused on the book in her other hand. Her eyes were wide as she devoured every word in the romance novel. Ever now and then she would sigh as the hero once again wooed his lady love.

Her hand wood flick up quickly to turn the page, and the sheperd would let out a little woof to let her know he was not happy about her moving her hand away from his head. Her hand would return to the dogs head and he would place his head back on her lap, groaning his agreement to the touch.

Now around Kagome's apartment lay few pieces of furniture, a computer dest was tucked into a corner like a big hulking beast... it was the biggest piece of furniture she had beside the little love seat she sat on at the moment. A small table lay a few feet in front of her, stacked with romance novels she had read, and the ones she had yet to get too.

Kagome yawned and stretched, getting out the kinks in her back from sitting so long in one position.

"Well fluffy," she said as she placed a tattered book mark in her book, "I think it's time for bed, how about you?" She smiled down at her dog and stood up, stretching even further letting out another big yawn.

Fluffy let out a low woof and circled her feet, ready to get into bed and cuddle. She laughed at his enthusiasm and walked toward the bathroom. She removed the little makeup she had on, then brushed her teeth. Fluffy sat patiently at the door wagging his tale while she got ready for bed.

Kagome put her toothbrush in its cup and looked up at her reflection in the mirror. She smiled at the reflection, the smile not reaching her eyes. It had been 3 years since Inuyasha left her... and she still checked the mirror to see if maybe she could see any of the flaws that had driven him away.

She liked to believe that she was over him, over the fact that he hadn't even given her a reason to leave. She told herself everyday... but the truth was, she wasn't over him.

Though, Kagome glanced to the door where Fluffy was still wagging, she had been happy when she bought her baby. She smiled and reached a hand down to pet his head.

"Your such a good boy aren't you?!" she said in a singsong voice as she turned off her bathroom light. They both walked to her room and she laughed as he let out another bark when she crawled into bed. She set her alarm for 7am and turned out the bedside lamp; tomorrow would just be another boring day, in her very boring life.

Or would it?
