The Box

I do not own this, nor do I make a profit from writing this. I just enjoy writing of the fanfic.

....

Inuyasha stepped away from the well house, when he heard an evil chuckle from it. His ear twitched, as he sniffed the air. That couldn't be Kagome could it? His ears perked up, seeing something brown slowly rising from the well. Placing his hand on the hilt of his sword, he watched it keep rising. It was a box shape, but smelled strangely. Whatever it was made of, he could smell Kagome. That would mean she is pushing up the box with one hand, and most likely her head.

He was about to help her, when he was stopped by the scent of his brother. Knowing that Kagome and he were together now, perhaps he would know why she had that.
...

Sesshomaru could sense Kagome's return. He headed to the well, where he knew Inuyasha would be there. What he didn't expect was the box coming out of the well. Walking over, he put his one and only arm around the box, and lifted up with no trouble. The youkai noticed her look up, smile, and then thank him. Watching her get out of the well, he couldn't help but notice the strange material the box was made of. He waited for her to readjust her bag on her back.

"Thanks, Sesshomaru," she said, holding out her hands.

Sesshomaru merely nodded and handed it back. His brow rose as he heard a cruel laugh come from her. 'What in the world is going on with her,' he thought, seeing her staring at the box as she laughed. Then, both he and his bother watched her going back to camp.

"...Do you know," asked Inuyasha.

"This Sesshomaru has no clue whatsoever."
....

Back in camp, everyone was curious about the box. So curious that, when Kagome went to wash in the springs, they discussed it.

"What could possibly be in that box," asked Sango.

"I'm not sure, but it has Kagome acting strangely," replied Miroku.

"Maybe her brain is messed up or something-"

Whack!  One quick fist to Inuyasha's noggin' was enough to get Sesshomaru's point across. While she was acting strange, he would not  allow his rude half brother to make such a comment.

"Perhaps we should just ask Kagome," Sesshomaru threw into the mix.

"Don't try it," told Shippo. "All she does is wink, and then say it was a surprise for a certain spider. "

All turned towards Shippo, seeing that he was granted with more information than they were. A sweat drop formed upon his face. "Uh, why are you all looking at me like that?"

Cupping his chin, Miroku began to ponder. "Hn. Perhaps it some sort of weapon to use against Naraku then. But, why wouldn't she tell us about it."

All went silent. What COULD Kagome be thinking?
....

Days passed. As they  searched for Naraku's castle, Kagome spoke not a word about the box. Instead, she seemed to have taken up humming on her last trip home. When they stopped once again for a rest, and Kagome was able to go to a hot spring , Sango accompanied her to ask her about it, while everyone else tried to piece any knowledge they had together. Throwing out all sorts of ideas, none of them ever noticed Shippo rummaging through Kagome's things. Shippo searched for any information that could help them, when he came across-

"Inuyasha! Miroku! Sesshomaru! I found this picture of Naraku!" Holding it up for all to see, they had sweat drop.

"That's supposed to be Naraku. Even you draw better, Shippo," spoke Inuyasha.

"Even there I have to agree with you, Inuyasha," spoke Miroku. "Although, it does say  'Naraku Before'."

Sesshomaru looked down at Shippo, who was a worried fox now. "Even though I do not usually look up to looking around in other's personal belongings, you  have done it for a cause."

Shippo sighed, feeling like he was an inch from death. Bringing his thought back on the drawing, he said," It kinda looks like, on the after one, that Naraku is a mushroom."

Once again, this puzzled all of them. Now they really wanted to know what was in the box.
...

Sango didn't have much luck. All; she got was a laughing fit and Kagome shouting 'boom'! Piecing it together with what they found, they guessed that she just left out the 'l' in 'bloom'.

Now they were worried about Kagome's health. If she was thinking about making Naraku into a plant, then she must have a screw loose, like Inuyasha expected. Only Sesshomaru thought that they must be looking at this wrong. Although, he realized soon enough there was only one true was of figuring this out.

Walking over to the box, while everyone else was asleep, he stood over the box. Kneeling down, he looked at how the box was sealed.

'There seems to be another type of material keeping it closed.' He pulled at some of it a bit, to examine the material further. It was sticky on once side, making it too difficult to take off the box, with damaging it well. So, taking a single claw, he sliced open the top, and opened it up.

The inu knelt there for what seemed like hours. The more and more he looked upon the item(s) in the box, the more puzzled he became. Closing it back, he looked into her bag for that sticky material. Finding it, he sealed t box again, put away the tape, and sat against a tree nearby. He would stare there, until the following day.

"Perhaps the half bread is right. Perhaps my Kagome is loosing it a bit."
...

The next day was filled with everyone trying to get Kagome to take the day off from work. Alas, the more persistent they became, the angrier she got. Finally., she sat Inuyasha to the point of oblivion, to represent  how ticked they had made her. She didn't know what their problems were, but it was truly getting on her last nerve.
...

They finally were nearing Naraku's castle. Before they would invade, Kagome gave everyone a bottle of water. Watching them sip, she saw that the only ones unaffected were Sesshomaru and Inuyasha. 'As expected she thought. ' The catnip for Kirara, and the sleepy stuff for everyone else.' After that, she proceeded to sit Inuyasha till he was unconscious. Looking to Sesshomaru, she saw him narrow his eyes.

"Kagome, what are you doing," asked Sesshomaru.

Kagome merely smiled and said," Sesshomaru, remember that last time we saw Kagura, and how she and I went off to talk alone, before both Inuyasha and you came to protect me?"

"Yes, this Sesshomaru remembers well."

"Well," she started, picking up the box. "This is a part of that plan." Opening it up, she messed with two wires inside, putting them together. They both looked to the skies, hearing and sensing Kagura approaching.
...

Kagura had her heart clutched in her hand, as she began to force it into her chest.  Taking Kagome's advice, she was able to escape from Naraku with her heart. She never thought she would ever feel gratitude towards the miko, but she did now. Flying down, she took the package from Kagome, nodded her head, as she flew back to Naraku's castle.

"Kagome...What is going on," asking Sesshomaru.

"You'll see soon enough," she spoke, smirking. Turning to her bag, she got out some items that would be needed to reawaken the others, and to help Kirara. By the time they were all awake enough to ask her what's going on, there was a large, exploding sound, coming from Naraku's castle, and a large white feather flying away from it.

Sesshomaru turned to look at Kagome, and nodded. His head. "This Sesshomaru now understands what was in the box, but how did you make such an item. You had told this Sesshomaru that you did not know, and only wished you could do it."

"I just went to Google," she replied, shrugging her shoulders.. "Now, let's move in. That blast would only be enough to greatly damage him, if it worked. Now it's OUR turn!"

Taking up her arrows, the young miko rushed towards Naraku's castle; her very confused comrades following her. Sesshomaru stood only for a few more seconds, to smirk and shake his head.

"Only she could surprise this Sesshomaru."
