The Keepers Book by Trinity

The Book

Authors Note: I haven't done a story in awhile and I just had to write this one out.

Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha or any of the characters from the anime or manga. I do own the plot, and my own characters.

The book wasn't anything spectacular in appearance, it looked like any old book that you would find in a odd out of the way shop. It's leather was worn and the pages were tinted from old age and the binding seemed to be on its last leg. No one knew the books real name or where it really came from but they had names and tales of how it came to be.

The religious orders called it many things, varying from the Demons Book to Gods Gift mattering on if it was in their hands or another. The people who held it within their grasp and were choosen to be it's owner for their life called it a blessing, a savior. The others, well when they found out the books power they became envious and plotted ways to gain such power, but of course they failed in their quest.

One thing was agreed by all, at least to an extent. Was how the book came to be, and this story was passed down generations upon generations, varying in degrees but similar...

It was said at the dawning of life there were many different races, the humans which we all know of and how they formed and the Others. The Others included demons, angels, and the creatures we think of as fantasy and stories told for us to behave. At the dawn of life, the two groups lived in harmony and lived side by side in a relative peace. One day, it all changed, a young human male wanted a princess from the Others but she was to vain and stuck up, believing only her kind would do.

She was a beautiful creature, what she was, was always a argument among the generations. Some believed she was an angel, others she was a mermaid and of course another group believed she was a demon, a succubus if you will. The young male would visit her every day and ask her hand in marriage, but every day she would refuse. One day the boy came to ask her hand once again but found she was engaged, he became angered by her refusal and for going to another man.

Running back to his home he told his father, a lower lord of a prosperous kingdom in both military and wealth. When his father heard of the girls treachery he sent a missive to the king. The king was outraged by the blatant disregard of one of his lords sons by the girl that he sent out letters to the other kingdoms and started a war. The war waged on for centuries till someone gave an idea, with the agreement of it the Others disappeared from the Human world to never be heard of again.

Well...that is till The Keeper, as the humans called it created the book in pity for the humans. The Keeper was someone no one knew, for The Keeper never kept a form for long, only till the then owner of the book died and another was found. The book passed through history and thousands of hands, but no one ever choose the other option that the book offered. Since of course all things come with a catch.
