Mama had been ecstatic to see her, but her joy had been short-lived as reality set in, and she'd questioned Kagome about why she'd come back when she'd wanted so badly to return to the past.

Kagome had brought her into the well house, teasing some of the portal's power out. An intricate display of fireworks bounced along the edge of the well, signalling the magic was strong and intact, giving Kagome the confidence to spend a few hours with her family.

They'd showered her with gifts they'd collected since she'd left, and even a few for her friends, Kagome jumping back through the well at sundown with a bulging backpack.

The well continued to buzz until the moon shone overhead, the power slowly slipping away until it was dormant once more. Kagome had taken to planting flowers around it, with Rin's help, to thank it.

The clearing had always been relaxing, but the sea of wildflowers encouraged more people to relax and spend time with their families. If the well was alive, even if it only worked once, Kagome wanted it to have a wonderful view.
