If you don't love yourself you can't expect other people to either. She spent so much of her youth running after Inuyasha and putting up with his and Kikyos BS of course he'll take her for granted, step on her and toss her when he's done. In his head she'll accept whatever he does as she's always done telling himself that she was the one forcing the relationship. Inuyasha didn't choose her over Kikyo, Kikyo merely out of the equation. If Kikyo had been alive while she was stuck in the future would she come back to find him waiting? Why didn't she ask herself this? I guess love makes a mockery out of us all. In most cases only when she moves on will he come begging like an abandoned puppy (no pun intended) feeling betrayed because his spare tire had the audacity to move on.
