Well, one good thing about your starting the story in the present is that we already know Inuyasha survives this encounter. I love how you've juxtaposed Sesshomaru's thoughts and actions during this chapter.

Did Sesshomaru meet Kagome in those years he has forgotten? Did something happen that was the impetus for her becoming The Sorceress? (No spoilers required, I just finally want to get my speculations down in writing.)
